Swimming is usually thought of as a fun way to pass the time, but it means so much more for kids. Swimming has long been a favourite sport for kids, bringing a ton of advantages that extend far beyond just having fun in the water. It’s not just enjoyable for them; parents also love watching their kids swim effortlessly. Spring is the go-to season for diving into swimming lessons, and it makes complete sense. These lessons prepare kids for fun and safe water activities when summer arrives. In this blog, we’ll explore why spring swimming lessons for kids are the perfect way to shake off the winter blues and get ready for summer break.

Benefits of spring swimming lessons for kids

1. Improves water safety
It’s unfortunate, but drowning is the leading cause of death for children between 1 and 4 years old in the US. That’s why swimming is such a crucial skill to learn—it can save lives. Research shows that kids who take formal swimming lessons have an 88% lower risk of drowning, making it a smart choice for their safety and fun as well. Once kids can swim confidently, they can engage in various water activities and sports, like boating, surfing, and triathlons. Swimming lessons help reduce anxiety and the dangers of water for both kids and adults who aren’t strong swimmers.

2. Easy on joints
Get kids moving with low-impact workouts. Swimming is a fantastic way for children to stay healthy. It works all their muscles, is gentle on the joints, and improves lung capacity, heart health, and overall strength.

3. Get off screens during holidays
Looking for an easy way to get your kid away from screens without the usual tablet battles? Good news—you can’t use screens in the water! Group swimming lessons are a great way for your child to meet new friends, socialise, and have fun in the pool.

4. Prepare for summer fun
Get your child ready for summer fun. If hitting the beach, lake, or any water spot is on your family’s summer agenda, make sure to add swimming lessons to your spring to-do list. Teaching them to swim will allow them to splash around safely, whether they’re at a water park, a hotel pool, or lounging on a giant inflatable flamingo.
