Learn To Swim News

Discover the joy of swimming and water safety with our Learn to Swim program!

As the year comes to a close, we have had an incredible journey together in the pool.
It has been a joy and privilege to see our swimmers grow, learn, and develop their skills in the water.

To our families, thank you for entrusting us with your children’s water safety and swim education. Your support, encouragement, and involvement have been vital in making this program successful.

As we look forward to another exciting year of swimming, we encourage everyone to keep practicing and enjoying their time in the water. Whether it’s splashing around for fun or setting new goals – every swim is a step forward in building confidence and developing skills.

MEET OUR PASSIONATE TEAM‍

We’re super excited to introduce to you some of our dedicated learn-to-swim instructors Claudia, Nikolas, Amy, Massimo, Ioannis and Hannah who are making swimming & water safety skills fun and safe.

Claudia

Claudia

Hi everyone! I’m passionate about teaching swimming and helping children build their confidence in the water. I love seeing their progress and excitement as they learn new skills. When I'm not at the pool, I enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new activities.

Nikolas

Nikolas

Hi, I’m Nikolas, a proud member of the Learn to Swim team at Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre. Teaching swimming is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. I love seeing the progression of swimmers, whether it’s toddlers taking their first strokes and mastering floating, mini squad students refining their technique, or even adults learning to swim for the first time and conquer their fear of the water. I feel privileged to guide them through every step.

Amy

Amy

I truly enjoy being a swim teacher because it combines my passion for teaching and kids with my love for the water. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about helping people, especially children, feel comfortable and confident in the water and providing them with a life long skill. Watching a child overcome their fear of putting their face in the water or mastering a stroke, fills me with joy

Massimo

Massimo

The reason I am deeply passionate about teaching Learn to Swim is that it allows me to contribute to saving lives by educating my students in water safety and equipping them with essential lifelong skills. Given Australia's proximity to water, I consider it a privilege to play a role in reducing the incidence of drownings

Hannah

Hannah

Swim teaching is an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable job. Watching my students transform from feeling nervous or hesitant around the water to confidently swimming independently is an absolute privilege. I love getting to know each one of my students, building fun and supportive relationships that inspire them to learn and develop their swimming skills. Seeing their progress, big smiles, high-fives, and enthusiasm during lessons makes me extremely proud and constantly reminds me why I chose to become a swim teacher.

Loannis

Loannis

Being a part of a student’s journey as they learn life-long skills is the most cherished aspect of being a teacher and the greatest privilege. It is a true joy to see them grow, and master their aquatic skills, but also in their journey to conquer their fears and extend themselves as individuals, beyond what they first thought was possible. That in itself brings me immense joy as a teacher

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR LTS STUDENTS

Congratulations to all our students who have worked hard, turned up and maintained consistency, especially those who have moved up one or more levels. We hope all our students continue the great work in building lifesaving skills in and around water.

KEEP OUR POOLS CLEAN, SAFE AND OPEN!

Kindly maintain the pool safety by adhering to these simple rules.

  • ‘Keep watch’ wristband for children under 5: Children under 5 must wear a ‘keep watch’ wrist band inside the centre at all times, this includes before, during and after learn to swim lessons. This helps centre staff to identify high risk patrons and take early actions to prevent incidents from occurring.
  • Parental Supervision at all times: Parents/guardians must be present and maintain visual supervision of their child whilst in lessons. If your child needs to go to the toilet or the pool closes and the lesson is cancelled for any reason it remains the responsibility of the parent/guardian to maintain supervision of their child.
  • 0 – 5 years old & non swimmers: Parent/Guardian to stay within arms reach. Adult to child ratio of 1 to 1 applies at all times.
  • 6 – 10 year olds and weak swimmers: Parent/Guardian Be close, be prepared and maintain visual contact
  • 11 – 14 year olds : Parent/Guardian maintain visual contact
  • Avoid eating 30 minutes before swimming: Vomits require the pool to close for treatment and impact on the Learn to Swim program and other centre users.
  • Stay at home if unwell: To prevent spreading illness do not visit the centre if you or your child is experiencing cold or flu symptoms or have had vomiting or diarrhoea in the past two weeks.
  • Do shower before entering pool: Keep the pool clean by showering and washing thoroughly with soap before entering the pool.
  • Don’t swallow pool water: To prevent any potential health issues, avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Non-toilet trained infants: If your child is not yet toilet trained consider the following points to prevent spreading germs:
  • Use toilet before entering the pool.
  • Make sure to wear swim nappies and tight fitting waterproof pants.
  • Dispose of swim nappies & properly clean your hands.
  • Change nappies on a regular basis.
  • Prioritise safety, follow these rules, and maintain a positive swimming experience with us.
